EMEA Crisis Management Regional Lead - VP

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Fusion – EMEA regional Lead within the Crisis Management Team which operates with an intent-based leadership philosophy. By providing intent and context behind actions as opposed to direction and instructions, leaders are more effectively able to cascade down decision-making power to the subject matter experts and other members of the team. This allows leaders and managers to focus on leading, coaching and driving strategy. Crisis Management operates with a bias for action to mitigate business disruption, maintaining situational awareness of risks ahead of such need, support invocation of business continuity plans, and staying focused on its clients while remaining accountable for its actions and outcomes. The team exhibits strong command and control, while centralizing timely and accurate communications and guidance to key clients during the life cycle of an incident.

To implement this philosophy, several pre-requisites are prioritized:

Learning culture: Building and helping develop a team of experts is critical to building trust in their capabilities.  The successful candidate should provide training and encourage a growth mindset amongst their teamDefining scope: Clearly define roles and responsibilities to flush out any ambiguity to avoid confusion.Providing context: A team needs to know where they fit into the larger organization and how their individual contributions help the team accomplish its mission. The successful candidate should be able to effectively provide background behind decision making and team direction.Learning from mistakes: There will be mistakes and issues that come up when control is given up. The successful candidate should be able to talk through mistakes and document lessons learned with the team while maintaining patience and acceptable expectations.Coaching: The successful candidate should be able to ask leading questions and coach their team to come up with the solution on their own. This will help them feel empowered and presents a learning opportunity for the team to develop and grow.

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Risk Management, Business Continuity, or a related field, or equivalent experience. An intent-based leadership approach also helps drive 3 primary intrinsic motivators for a fulfilled team which the successful candidate should strive for themselves and their teamAutonomy is the need to be your own director. It means controlling what you do, how you do it, and who you do it with. This allows maximum flexibility to think creatively without needing to conform to professional boundaries. Crisis Management accomplishes this through the use of what's called Directly Responsible IndividualMastery is a person's desire to own their domain. It's having an appetite for knowledge, seeking to learn more and improve skills with practice. Crisis Management accomplishes this through the use of stretch goals and leading special projectsPurpose gives people the sense that they are working on something bigger than themselves. Crisis Management accomplishes this by connecting personal contributions to the large-scale success for Crisis Management and Fusion Response during team meetings and Town Halls.

Of the utmost importance for the Crisis Management team, and a primary enabler for our success, is promoting a psychologically safe environment. High performing teams must operate in an environment where all members of the team feel safe to share new ideas while being held accountable for a high standard of excellence. We promote psychological safety across 4 domains and expect this also from a successful candidate:

Inclusion: We practice inquiry and actively listen so that team members feel included, and ultimately more inclined to speak upShifting attitudes towards risk and failure: When teams hold mistakes against each other, people are less willing to take risks and innovate so we maintain patience while the team learns and grows while still maintaining high standards and not letting those standards slip.Willingness to help: When people don't feel appreciated, they are less willing to help and support the rest of the team, so we collaborate across the global team on various initiatives and encourage team members to collaborate and ask for help.Open dialogue: Candid conversations are better able to solve hard challenges. Collective intelligence triumphs over that of a few.
