Embedded Software Engineer in C for Laboratory Diagnostics Systems

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.

Our inspiring and caring environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions.

Are you an embedded systems expert with a deep understanding of low-level C programming and CAN bus protocols? Do you want to apply your skills from automotive or similar industries to a critical mission in healthcare?

Help us develop life-saving laboratory diagnostic equipment, and we are looking for a talented engineer to help us redefine the intelligence of our systems https://www.siemens-healthineers.com/sk/laboratory-diagnostics.

Your Profile: The Skills You Bring

Experienced in C programming for embedded systems. Proven experience with microprocessor/Firmware development, preferably with TI microcontrollers. Deep knowledge of CAN Bus systems (both generic and proprietary variants). Experience with handling bus overflow, message prioritization, and unpredictable behavior is crucial. Strong skills in rigorous testing methodologies like stress testing. Hands-on experience with LabVIEW for prototyping and testing is a significant advantage. Solid general electrical knowledge, especially in control systems and feedback loops. Experience with low-level communication protocols like SPI.

The Problems You Will Solve:

You will become the first member of our Slovakia-based team, collaborating closely with colleagues in the US and India to shift system intelligence from high-level Windows platforms down to the device control level (DCL). Your responsibilities will include:

Developing "more brains" for low-level control of critical subsystems like thermal management, precise movement or refrigeration. Designing and implementing robust firmware that can operate immediately upon power-on (e.g., initiating cooling before the full OS boots). Expanding our use of CAN bus for all internal sensor communication, ensuring stability and preventing system shutdowns from bus overflow. Applying your expertise in stress and boundary testing to create exceptionally fault-tolerant systems. Developing regression tests and test suits to ensure robustness of the system.

This role is an excellent fit for skilled engineers from the automotive industry or any other field with a strong emphasis on robust, real-time embedded systems and CAN bus communication.
