We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded Linux Board Support Packages (BSPs) using Buildroot or Yocto, configure bootloaders, and perform system bring-up on new embedded hardware. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between software and hardware components.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain embedded Linux BSPs using Buildroot or Yocto.Configure and integrate bootloaders, such as U-Boot, and kernels for custom hardware platforms.Perform system bring-up on new embedded hardware.Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between software and hardware.Write and maintain C/C++ code for embedded applications and system-level components.Debug and optimize embedded systems for performance and reliability.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in embedded Linux development.Proficiency with Buildroot (preferred) or Yocto Project.Strong programming skills in C and C++.Solid understanding of embedded system architecture and hardware/software integration.Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and build automation tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Linux device drivers.Knowledge of cybersecurity/cyber patching.Experience with circuit board integration is a bonus.Medical device experience is accepted.Work Environment
The role is ideally onsite in Syracuse, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule for candidates located in Rochester, Buffalo, or surrounding areas. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
