Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Key job responsibilities
- Specify, design, implement, test, and operationally support high reliability software hosted on satellite for purposes of foundational command and data handling (i.e. command, telemetry, and file transfer)
- Develop embedded satellite software in Rust, C++, and/or other modern languages
- Develop ground side CI/CD and/or operational support software w/ Python and/or Typescript
Work closely with other software and hardware teams to support on device integration testing
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
You will be building the infrastructure and services required to reliably process and downlink telemetry from the constellation of satellites. Telemetry is a critical component of all missions phases and key to safely operating the constellation. You will design services with a focus on security and reliability. Your work will interface with various subsystems within Project Kuiper and Amazon to enable engineers to safely and efficiently operate the the satellite constellation and its supporting ground infrastructure.
About the team
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service?
The Telemetry team owns the on-vehicle software responsible for ingesting telemetry, downlinking telemetry and processing it ground-side.
This team will drive the design, development, deployment and operation of a critical mission system for the Kuiper constellation from end-to-end. This includes the agent software which interfaces with all hardware subsystems on-vehicle and downlinking. Once the telemetry is ground-side, the team also owns processing that telemetry, publishing it in real time to mission operators and supporting monitoring/alerting for off-nominal situations.
