We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of high-availability electronic systems for industrial automation. In this role, you will be responsible for designing robust hardware solutions that meet demanding performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. As a technical leader, you will drive the design, analysis, validation, and optimization of complex electronic products. You will collaborate closely with system architects, hardware and firmware engineers, product marketing, quality and supply chain to develop innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly into Emerson’s DeltaV Process Control System.
AS AN EMBEDDED HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Lead the design and development of analog and digital electronics for DeltaV I/O modules, controllers, and communication interfaces. Collaborate with multi-functional teams including firmware, software, mechanical, test, supply chain and manufacturing engineers to deliver robust and cost-effective solutions. Conduct feasibility studies, select components, offer mentorship for PCB layout, conduct simulations, and participate in build peer reviews to develop high-quality prototypes for product development. Perform product verification and validation testing to ensure performance and compliance with industry standards. Support sustaining engineering efforts including root cause analysis and field issue resolution. Drive continuous improvement in design practices, documentation, and development processes. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them through the design process and fostering their professional growth. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and standards in electronics design and engineering, and incorporate them into design processes.WHO YOU ARE:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelors degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or a related STEM degree and 8 or more years of relevant experience Or Masters degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or a related STEM degree and 7 or more years of relevant experience Skilled in using CAD development tools to craft schematics and conduct simulations Strong background in analog and digital circuit design principles Familiarity with common laboratory instruments for testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits. Experience in designing Microprocessor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based embedded systems.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Proficiency in hardware description languages. Knowledge of Functional Safety standards. Hands-on experience with firmware development for board bring-up and system integration. Understanding of FPGA design principles and experience in implementing FPGA-based solutions. Fundamentals in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and product safety compliance. Experience in performing failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential design risks. Appreciation for common electronics manufacturing processes and guidelines. Familiarity with DeltaV or other process control systems.
