**Eligibility Specialist in Augusta, ME**
**Position Description** : Assist Program Staff in determining initial and continuing eligibility of applicants for the Ryan White Program. Responsibilities include obtaining and verifying information, determining applicant eligibility benefits, and verifying the correctness of previous determination decisions.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Complete initial eligibility screenings, following all applicable policies and procedures
+ Complete semi-annual recertification process, including preparation of mailings for clients who need to be recertified
+ Ensure that clients maintain enrollment in all cost-saving benefit programs through follow-up with clients or case managers
+ Determine eligibility for financial assistance requests per protocols
+ Communicate with clients, case managers, pharmacies, medical providers and other professionals as authorized to determine client medical and financial eligibility for financial assistance
+ Authorize pharmacy overrides to enable clients to access medications on time as needed according to established procedures
+ Identify liable third parties for reimbursement, and work with pharmacy benefit manager to reverse charges billed in error
+ Data entry, to include all recertifications and financial assistance applications, into CAREWare
+ Serve as primary contact for the ADAP program for issues related to eligibility
+ Provide back-up support to the HIV Program Support Specialist position, to include processing other Ryan White financial assistance applications when needed
**CORE COMPETENCIES***
**_Tier 1 – Entry Level_** : Tier 1 competencies apply to public health professionals who carry out the day-to-day tasks of public health organizations and are not in management positions. Responsibilities of these professionals may include basic data collection and analysis, fieldwork, program planning, outreach activities, programmatic support, and other organizational tasks.
**_Tier 2 - Program Management/Supervisory Level_** : Tier 2 competencies apply to public health professionals with program management or supervisory responsibilities. Specific responsibilities of these professionals may include program development, implementation, and evaluation; establishing and maintaining community relations; managing timelines and work plans; and presenting arguments and recommendations on policy issues.
**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in health-related field is preferred; however, equivalent related work experience may be considered.
+ Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills and cultural competence are essential.
+ Strong organizational skills and the flexibility and ability to manage time, prioritize multiple tasks and workload while meeting deadlines accurately with little supervision.
+ Proficiency with all current Microsoft Office programs as well as any other software programs necessary to perform the job.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of interviewing and data gathering skills as needed to form basis for judgements in eligibility determinations.
**Abilities:** To perform this job successfully the employee in this position must be able to demonstrate at least functional proficiency in most core competencies. Must be an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers and the public. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision.
**Physical Demands:** The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. While performing the duties of this position it is regularly required to sit and write, to operate a computer and printer, fax machine, photocopier, calculator and use telephone communication devices. The employee must be able to sit and drive a car to transport him/herself to meetings or other MCD offices. Must be able to walk around the office, up and down stairs, and be able to do light lifting.
**Mental Demands:** Must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, to work with staff who vary in their work styles, and to work under pressure. Willingness to work irregular/extra hours, evenings, weekends, and travel in or out of state as necessary. Provide timely response to requests and deadlines. Receive, process, and provide visual, verbal, and written information.
**Work Environment:** The primary location of this position is a typical office environment. However, the responsibilities may require meetings, conferences, trainings, etc., that necessitate an individual to be in various public places.
**Job Performance Evaluation:** The employee will be evaluated at least annually, but more often if performance warrants it.
Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship including H-1B sponsorship) by SSO. Under the federal laws relating to the F-1 STEM EAD program, SSO may be able to support a STEM EAD extension application at the sole discretion of your Designated School Official.
