Responsibilities:

Performs assigned responsibilities with demonstrated knowledge and competency in cardiac monitoring, patient safety, and departmental procedures.Operates specialized equipment including electrocardiography systems, stimulators, defibrillators, and devices for intracardiac rhythm assessment.Recognizes and interprets cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias, including AV nodal re-entry, WPW syndrome, and idiopathic tachycardias.Conducts diagnostic electrophysiology studies involving vascular access, catheter selection and placement, pacing, and activation time assessment.Programs and tests pacemakers/AICDs; understands device settings, pacing modes (e.g., VVI, DDD), and arrhythmia induction protocols.Assists in patient prep and insertion of temporary and permanent cardiac devices using sterile techniques per protocol.Responds to emergencies with cardioversion and defibrillation techniques (external, internal, and pharmacologic), and tilt table testing.Performs or assists with radiofrequency ablation and intracardiac mapping (e.g., CARTO, ESI), using standard or cool-tip catheters.Follows all hospital safety standards, including National Patient Safety Goals (e.g., patient ID, infection control, medication safety).

Completes documentation, incident reporting, and participates in reviews, Hurricane Activation Plans, and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

A.S. or B.S. degree in Electrophysiology preferredGraduation from a qualifying Cardiovascular/EKG program is required2 years of experience working in electrocardiology or equivalent
