ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
Summary This position is located in Defense Information Systems Agency, JSO/J4 FACILITIES & LOGIST DIR - FAC & REAL PROPERTY MANGMT DIV (ORG FL25). Responsibilities Plans, schedules, and executes major projects involving facilities and infrastructure engineering, construction programs and analysis of users current and projected requirements. Formulates and conducts technical and economic study projects that translate planning guidance and capability objectives into systems and architecture designs and assumes responsibility for the evaluation of designs. Serves as a technical consultant and analyst on systems engineering and cost aspects of electrical distribution, grounding and telecommunications. Serves as a senior lead engineer for planning power distribution, grounding, communications, HVAC systems, with emphasis on test mission infrastructure services, and other infrastructure. Responsible for the preparation, coordination, and processing of requirements for acquisition packages and technical content of the statement of work, assessing and influencing the quality deliverables of the contract. Serves as Division and Branch representative, in areas of his professional expertise and responsibility, at meetings and on committees, including direct coordination with DISA, military services and host command. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Basic Requirements: For the GS-855 Professional Engineering Series: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. Specialized experience is defined as experience advising on technical issues involving facilities and infrastructure engineering; and assisting with providing analysis of users' current and projected requirements. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position.
