Position Title: Electronics Development Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
Summary of Duties: Design, build, and test microprocessor based embedded products, including analog and digital circuitry. Main applications will be in power electronics switching and fault detection. Optimize designs for high volume manufacturing and cost effectiveness. Support release into production. Integrate embedded products into Siemens’ system architecture. Follow the latest industry trends in IoT (Internet of Things) data transfer and wireless communications and help implement and improve designed communication enabled products. Work closely with all engineering disciplines, including software/firmware, electrical hardware, mechanical project management, verification and validation engineers, and quality personnel to verify and validate products. 10% domestic and international travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered, or as an Electrical Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Design Engineer, or a related occupation. The position requires six (6) years of experience with the following skills: EMI/EMC, surge, and environmental testing; Product design and validation testing per standards such as CEC, IEC, ISO, UL, or NFPA; Power electronics; Developing applications using wireless IoT network protocols, such as Bluetooth, BLE, Zigbee, or Wifi; Power electronics, analog, digital, and microcontroller designs; Power supply and DC-to-DC converters, such as flyback, LDO, buck, boost or buck-boost; Cost reduction of products through value analysis and value engineering (VAVE); DFMEA, reliability analysis, components stress analysis, derating analysis, worst case analysis, MTBF, and diagnostic coverage analysis for lighting and automotive applications; Preparing and reviewing technical documents, such as requirement specification, hardware design document, design calculations, test plan, operation manual, product specification sheet, installation instruction sheet or troubleshooting guide; PCB, schematics and simulation tools, such as Altium, Proteus, or OrCAD; Ability to solder any type of electronic component; Module-level testing; Communication protocols, such as I2C, SPI, CAN, or UART. 10% domestic and international travel required.
