Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR Three years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification plus one of the following: 1. Two years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR 2. Two years of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software). EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Reviews work and provide guidance to lower-level Electronic Technicians on projects. + Read and interprets complex electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during diagnosis and repair of electronic equipment. + Installs, updates, and expands components and systems and recommends corrections, etc. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of Louisiana State Government + Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. + An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. + This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
