Electronic Security Service Installation Technician
Overview History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. The primary responsibilities of the Electronic Security Service Installation Technician is to lead the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of our security infrastructure utilizing the Genetec Security Center platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience deploying access control systems, video surveillance (CCTV), and integrating with fire alarm and intrusion detection systems. This role is critical to ensuring the physical security of our facilities through seamless technology deployment and integration. One primary goals of Superior Air-Ground Ambulance to provide high quality support to the employees it serves. Such a level of quality depends ultimately on the staff's desire and ability to work together, individually, and as a team. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times. Responsibilities + Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures even during off hours when situations warrant them + Install, configure, and maintain Genetec Security Center software and hardware including: o IP-based video surveillance systems (cameras, encoders, storage solutions) o Access control devices (controllers, card readers, door hardware) + Integrate Genetec systems with fire alarm panels, intrusion alarms, and other third-party platforms. + Perform on-site assessments to determine equipment placement and cabling needs. + Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure proper networking, device connectivity, and user management. + Monitor system health, perform routine maintenance, and apply updates/patches as needed. + Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues. + Maintain system documentation, including wiring diagrams, device inventory, and integration protocols. + Train internal users on system operation and basic troubleshooting. + Ensure compliance with relevant security, safety, and building codes. Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent equivalent accepted, College Preferred. + Extensive experience in access control, CCTV, and physical security systems, specializing in large-scale enterprise environments. + Attention to detail with the ability to identify/resolve problems and document the outcome. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. + Initiative to learn new tasks and the ability to apply acquired knowledge to future duties· + 3+ years of hands-on experience installing and configuring Genetec Security Center or comparable enterprise-level security systems. + Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, PoE, VLANs). + Experience with structured cabling, hardware mounting, and system wiring. + Knowledge of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm and intrusion alarm integration. + Familiarity with system programming, rule-based automation, and credential management within Genetec. + Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, wiring schematics, and technical manuals. + Strong communication and teamwork abilities. + Must have a valid driver’s license. Preferred Certifications (a plus): + Genetec Certified Professional (GCP. + Access Control and Video System Certifications. + NICET Level I/II in Fire Alarm Systems + CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification Physical Requirements: + Occasionally: kneeling, stooping, stretching, bending, leaning; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. + Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in tight spaces + Expectation of eventual travel throughout 5 state territory. Approximately 20% outside of IL.
