Electronic Design Engineer

If you are an Electronics Design Engineer looking for a great opportunity to grow, develop and expand your skills professionally, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you based in our MARSHALLTOWN, IA location. The Electronics Design Engineer is responsible for designing and documenting new and innovative electronics for Fisher electric actuators and related products, making the world healthier, safer, smarter and more sustainable. They are an integral member of the New Product Development process, spanning product concepting, designing, validating, documenting PCB level electrical designs and pre-production preparedness through operations implementation and product launch. 

This position may be filled at a higher level based upon candidate qualifications. This position offers a Hybrid work arrangement with a combination of in-office and off-site work

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE: 

Design electronic circuitry for use in industrial applications including motor drives Collaborate with cross-functional design and development teams, both inside and outside of the business unit Work with suppliers and manufacturing sites to assure a successful end product  Investigate industry trends and adopt new technology Generate and execute new product technical specifications, designs and test plans Assist in determining project timelines and resources to support the business unit’s long-term vision Influence mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing design requirements 

WHO YOU ARE:

You experiment with a wide range of existing technologies while applying new and emerging options that can enhance organizational outcomes. You orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal. You seek ways to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineering.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field 2+ years relevant experience Fundamental knowledge of analog and digital electronic components and their application in industrial products Design, analysis, and optimization of industrial electronics for performance, cost and manufacturability Knowledge of various communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, RS232, BLE, HART  Experience with electrical engineering tools; Simulation (P-SPICE or LT-SPICE), Oscilloscopes, function generators Motivated self-starter, initiative driven, and able to deal with ambiguity Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus Design/testing experience for EMC, CE/ATEX, CSA a plus Basic understanding of embedded development a plus Knowledge of Oil & Gas industry a plus

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART: 

5+ years relevant industry experience. Control valve business knowledge and experience Experience with sensors and industrial electronics  Experience with sensor technologies, integration, power management, and communications protocols
