Caterpillar Inc. seeks Electronic Component Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Building AC, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523. Develop, improve, and troubleshoot components for new perception, compute and position component technologies support machine autonomy. Perform analysis, simulation, machine integration, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and resolve issues related to New Product Introduction (NPI) as well as current generation LiDAR and Positioning components. Perform as a technical engineer in the cross-functional development teams (supplier, purchasing, hardware, software, systems, support engineer) to gather, document, demonstrate requirements and product durability. Expert in component design and application, NPI and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes, and LiDAR and positioning component principles and test plan creation at the component, subsystem, and system levels. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience developing embedded electronic hardware and/ or software for components or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) 1 year of experience supporting component design and/or machine integration focused on use of Ethernet Protocols; (2) 1 year of experience in schematic/layout development; (3) ROS middle ware for sensor integration, data gathering and review; (4) C++ code development for sensor integration into ROS and ROS like environments; and (5) Performance testing of sensors used in autonomous or automated systems. Telecommuting: 2 days/ week. **Summary Pay Range:** $96,387.00 - $143,520.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
