You also have: Perform a full range of duties including but not limited to troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, electronic, mechanical, and vacuum systems for electron beam welders, induction heat treat equipment, furnace, tig welders, resistance welders, flash welders, robotics and basic parts handling equipment, roll mills, wire drawing machines, grinders, millers, pumps and fans, and other systems, equipment and machinery. Essential Knowledge and Job Functions 1. Working knowledge in areas of: electrical safety, AC/DC circuits, AC/DC motors consisting of basic differences, control circuits, principles of operation, single and three phase; pumps including types, classes, shaft seals, alignment; test equipment including meters, scopes and other measuring devices/tools; fuses, sizes, types, voltage classes, purposes; batteries and transformers including types, sizes, circuit breakers; electrical diagrams including schematic and ladder; industrial vacuum systems terminology and technology; vacuum furnaces safety operation and repair; solenoids, valves, programmable controllers including basics and I/O types; hydraulics, pneumatics, heating elements types and applications; temperature measuring and recording; soldering heavy and pc board. 2. Knowledge and repair: in instrumentation and controllers; configure, program, calibrate, repair as warranted. Industrial power sources single and three phase AC power; power factor, KVA, transformers, power systems such as 480 delta including electrical calculations. 3. Knowledge and repair: of variable speed drives, proper application, set-up, configure, fault diagnosis. Industrial sensors; proximity switches, photo switches, pressure switches, temperature and various other transducers. Install and adjust. 4. Knowledge and repair: advance vacuum theory and repairs to high vacuum systems including the use of helium mass spectrometer for leak detection; CNC control repair; advanced electronics analog and digital; advanced pumps, compressors and fans, centrifugal and positive displacement. PlC set-up and program, and diagnose faults. 5. Understanding and application; of heat treating basics, material selection for furnace repair; heat exchangers and temperature control valves; motor starters sizes, types, industrial gases storage, purity, hazards and uses. 6. Personal computer usage including DOS and Windows applications. 7. Set-up and operation of basic tool room machines including: milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, sawing and use of measuring devices. Understanding and repair of oil filtration equipment. 8. Quality control inspection equipment theory, understanding and repair including ultra-sonic, eddy current, magnetic particle, etc. 9. Analyze machine problems to determine cause of malfunctions or substandard operation and perform necessary repairs to restore to proper operation and to ensure quality and quantity standards. 10. Notify supervisor of need to procure replacement or repair parts and make effective recommendations for replacement or substitution of components. 11. Participation in documentation of electrical and electronics systems for new or improved machines. Ensure that engineering copies of documentation are maintained and up to date. Participate in acceptance tests of new equipment at machine builders or in-house as assigned. 12. Maintain logs, records, reports and technical data and information as required. 13. Detect and report unusual situations, material defects or other problems to department supervisor or others. Follow all safety rules, regulations and practices using extreme care for self and others when working with high voltages. Perform other similar duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.
