Our Engineering and Product Development team at Industrial Scientific is inviting applications for an Electro-Mechanical Technician to assist in the design and development of next generation industrial safety products and solutions. The Electro-Mechanical Technician is a skilled engineering technician professional who assists the engineering team with the design of large-scale mechanical engineering projects. This person acts as a hands-on technician working to ensure one or several engineering projects are completed successfully in a required time frame while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for testing components and designs throughout the Product Development life cycle.  This position is expected to work closely with various groups to fully assure a properly designed product from concept to production.

 

The duties may include but are not limited to:

Conducting tests from Work Instructions and completing appropriate technical reports from provided templates.  Able to determine when a test is not working within parameters. Recording test results with a clear and professional appearance to be reviewed with the Designing Engineer. Support construction and evaluation of prototype designs. Investigate test failures and work with the Design Engineer towards resolution with supervision and assistance. Basic understanding of schematics and mechanical drawings. Basic Troubleshooting skills. Ensure test equipment is ready and calibrated, inventory gas cylinders, follow lab safety procedures, maintain chambers and equipment, and handle environmental management including recycling and hazardous waste. Maintaining a clean and orderly lab environment. Participates in design reviews mainly for education. Collaborates well with others. Participating on cross-functional product development teams.

 

Required Qualifications:

AS or AAS from an accredited engineering college or university or equivalent experience. Basic knowledge in the usage of laboratory test equipment (i.e. oscilloscope, DMM, etc.) Basic mechanical assembly and electronics skills - Basic use of hand tools. Experience using soldering tools. Able to work in team environments with close supervision. Able to commit to and work under deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of ERP tools. Strict adherence to detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Entry Level- Gas Detection Experience a plus.  Previous experience with environmental testing (Temperature /Humidity) Previous experience with product meeting UL, CSA, IECEx, CE and ATEX approvals.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 43,000.00 - 64,600.00
