The Job
As an Electro-mechanical engineer, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team located in Valley City, OH. You will be responsible for engineering activities related to the development of products for the Post-Sale Support Engineering Group. These activities consist of conventional basic engineering practices and a variety of functions necessary to ensure product quality and safety. Products include outdoor power equipment (OPE) attachments, parts, accessories, and maintenance items. This individual is required to collaborate and communicate with various disciplines, including Product Management, Product Design Group, Model Shop, Testing, Regulatory, Quality, Procurement, Suppliers and Manufacturing. Must be capable of managing small projects or a large project independently. You’ll also get to:
Develop new attachments, accessories, components, and tools for Large and Medium Format Mower platforms that meet design, marketing, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements as defined by engineering and the product development process.Develop new enhancements or improvements to existing products. These may include improvements in user experience, product value, manufacturing efficiency, or product reliability.Support manufacturing facilities & supply chain on design related issues for products that are currently in production.Manage & execute engineering project deliverables to ensure on-time completion of projects.Design various parts and assemblies while considering multiple design concepts.Create new and/or modify existing 3D CAD geometry and drawings of plastic/steel components, sub-assemblies, and other various layouts.Proactively consider cost, performance, and durability tradeoffs to help meet project cost targets. Disposition supplier PPAP documentation for part production release.Develop and execute the test plans for new product development projects.Investigate design issues and test failures and effectively drive corrective actions.Execute/coordinate drawing releases and revisions within CAD & PLM software. Support product packaging functions and providing guidance on marketing content.Work on outdoor power equipment in an outdoor environment when needed.The Person

BS in Mechanical Engineering with 1 to 3 years of professional experience as a Project/Design Engineer in new product development and/or product design.Thorough and diligent with strong technical problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.Proficient in designing within CAD applications, NX or Catia preferred. Knowledgeable in using a product lifecycle management (PLM) system, Teamcenter or Windchill preferred.Experience working with and designing sheet metal parts, stampings, welded assemblies, and injection molded plastic parts.Familiarity with high volume manufacturing process including fabrication and assembly lines is preferred.Familiarity with GD&T and stack-up analysis.Familiarity with developing consumer products is preferred.The Details
