**DESCRIPTION**
**Job Summary:**
**ON-SITE ROLE**
The Electrician – Level I is an apprentice-level role in a formal skilled trades training program. Under direct guidance, the individual supports electrical maintenance and troubleshooting activities in a manufacturing environment. The role includes completing required classroom learning, acquiring hands-on experience, and supporting safe and efficient equipment operation. Internally, the role also focuses on driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):**
+ Comply with all Cummins HSE policies, procedures, and regulations.
+ Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
+ Report hazards, incidents, and injuries immediately.
+ Participate in risk assessments and support safe work practices to achieve zero safety incidents.
+ Ensure environmental impact is minimized through responsible work behavior.
**Maintenance & Troubleshooting:**
+ Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of shop floor machines (Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic systems).
+ Diagnose faults and support time-critical repairs to minimize downtime.
+ Participate in root cause analysis (Why-Why analysis) and corrective actions.
+ Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) is 100% compliant with schedule.
+ Maintain high uptime (target >98%) through proactive maintenance activities.
**Electrical Systems Support:**
+ Perform supervised electrical work based on diagrams, sketches, manuals, and specifications.
+ Understand PLC, relay logic, ladder diagrams, and electrical/pneumatic schematics.
+ Support hardware controls maintenance and participate in automation or programming improvements.
+ Assist in factory automation projects, including programming and control system upgrades.
**Documentation & Reporting:**
+ Maintain maintenance records, shift reports, and equipment documentation.
+ Participate in spare parts planning and inventory control.
+ Ensure adherence to 5S and housekeeping standards across the work area.
**Learning & Development:**
+ Complete all assigned classes and achieve required on-the-job training hours.
+ Engage in personal development activities as aligned with business needs.
+ Participate actively in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement initiatives.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ **Education:**
+ High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education is required.
+ Technical education in electrical or mechanical fields is preferred.
+ **Licensing:**
+ May require licensing or certifications for compliance with export controls or electrical standards depending on region.
**Experience:**
+ No prior work experience required; this is an entry-level apprenticeship position.
+ Internships or practical training in manufacturing or electrical maintenance are advantageous.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Skills:**
+ Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
+ Familiarity with PLCs, relay logic, and ladder diagrams.
+ Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
+ Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Strong safety awareness, proactive mindset, and attention to detail.
+ Ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and work in cross-functional teams.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Manufacturing environment with exposure to electrical systems, machinery, and moderate noise.
+ Use of PPE is mandatory; strict adherence to safety procedures is expected.
+ May involve shift work, extended hours, and physical activity (lifting, climbing, standing).
