Salary: £34,000 base + overtime
Contract: London Metropolitan Police – Special Events Division
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
Location: Office-based in New Addington (CR0), with regular travel across Greater London as required
Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain CTC Security Clearance due to the sensitive nature of the role.
This is a unique and dynamic contract that supports the Metropolitan Police Service in delivering operational and public safety services for special events across London. Activities include:
Supporting pre-planned events, ceremonial occasions, demonstrations, and responses to major incidents
Deploying and maintaining temporary infrastructure, including signage, traffic management systems, street furniture, and crime scene equipment
Providing engineering and procurement services for temporary utilities such as power, lighting, and water
Assisting with evidence preservation, access and egress management, and logistical support to ensure public safety

Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out electrical safety checks, planned maintenance, reactive callouts, and repairs across a variety of temporary installations
Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and ensure compliance with all statutory building and electrical regulations
Perform regular monitoring and inspection procedures as part of the preventative maintenance programme
Maintain accurate records of works completed and promptly return Work Orders for administrative processing
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and safe operation of temporary power and lighting systems for special events
Adhere to all Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies, actively promoting a zero-accident culture
Liaise effectively with operational teams and client representatives to ensure works are delivered to high standards
What We're Looking ForRecognised electrical qualifications, ideally:
Level 2/3 City & Guilds 2330 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, and installation – ideally within facilities, mobile maintenance, or the construction sector
Good communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative in a fast-paced, operational environment
IT literate with good record-keeping skills
Physically capable of carrying out all associated duties
Flexible and adaptable approach to varied work demands
Full UK driving licence essential
Willingness to undergo extended security clearance
