About the role

Are you a skilled electrician looking for a rewarding role in the public sector? 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our team, providing essential housing maintenance services across the Council’s housing stock and corporate properties.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of electrical work as directed by the designated Repairs Officer, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in line with work orders. Your expertise will contribute to the continuous improvement of the Council’s maintenance services, helping to maintain safe, high-quality homes and buildings for residents and staff.

What will you be doing?

As an Electrician, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the Council’s housing stock and corporate properties. Working under the direction of the designated Repairs Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance, repair, and installation work across a range of settings. 

Your responsibilities will include:

Complete maintenance and repair works as specified in work orders.Undertake individual or joint electrical installation and maintenance tasks within allocated areas, following current Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).Use mobile devices to complete reports, certifications, order materials, and request follow-up work.Work independently or as part of a team across various service areasComplete work orders in accordance with the schedule of rates.Follow safe working practices and comply with the Council’s Health and Safety policies.

Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tools, PPE, and vehicles, including regular cleaning and fluid level checks.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified and experienced electrician with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service. You will have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out electrical maintenance, inspection, and testing work efficiently and in compliance with regulations.

City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition).City & Guilds 2391 (Test & Inspection) or equivalent.Practical experience in electrical inspection and testing.Willingness to undertake CAT B asbestos training and any additional training as required to stay updated with regulations and legislation.Numerate with the ability to complete reports and certifications accurately.Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, particularly in a customer-facing environmentStrong awareness of health and safety practices and a commitment to safe working procedures.Confident in using electronic devices for reporting and work order management.Understanding and awareness of equal opportunitiesWillingness to participate in out-of-hours call-outs as required.

Valid driving licence to travel between work locations.
