We are seeking an experienced Electrical / Mechatronics Engineer to join our team at Traton R&D Powertrain! In this role you'll work in the Powertrain Systems Engineering organization, specifically the Base Engine Development team located at International World Headquarters in Lisle, Illinois. The core responsibilities include managing various projects on starters, alternators and sensors from small changes and investigations to full scale new development programs. This will be across all engines in the global Traton portfolio including in-house and vendor engines. Leading the processes, problem solving and implementing solutions to complex and high risk engineering issues. Extensive relationship building with suppliers and counterparts across the globe is essential

We currently have a great opportunity for an Electrical / Mechatronics Engineer on our TRATON USA’s R&D Team.
Responsibilities Lead development projects for the Base Engine teamCoordinate design efforts and cross functional reviews, create and maintain design requirements documentation.Ownership of development & validations plans, BOM’s for prototype engine builds & test enginesChange management coordination within various Traton brands (International, Scania, MAN & VW Truck & Bus)Support issue resolutions using rigorous problem-solving practicesParticipation in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)Completion of Component and System level Design Verification Plan and Reports (DVP&R)Work within multiple proprietary software systems to track issues across all partner brands and support future development of universal systems (Training provided).Development of starters, alternators and sensors in conjunction with our Traton partners and suppliers.Identify, troubleshoot, contain, and permanently correct engineering issues.Provide technical information by answering questions and requests.Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulationsAssist with Compliance validation to Federal, State and local requirementsWork directly with Manufacturing, Materials, Quality, Purchasing and other Product Development Engineering groups worldwide across all Traton brands.Support Manufacturing and plant goals of safety, quality, cost and continuous improvement. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceOR
Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceOR
PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Strong cross functional communication skills and relationship buildingExtensive background in automotive or heavy truck starters, alternators and/or sensors is a plus.
