AECOM is actively seeking an Electrical Department Manager for our London/ Kitchener, Ontario office to work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Justice, Water, Transportation, Sustainability, Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Federal Civilian and DoD, and Mission Critical.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for the Electrical Engineering Department. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of a subject area, the definition of scope, and the selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.Supervises a group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.Acts as a Senior Engineer leading the design and engineering efforts for various projects.Assist in business development activitiesAssist in proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the officeWriting reports for internal and external purposes based on findingsWorks cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company's missionEnsures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and scheduleStays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and life safety disciplinesEnsures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and constructionDevelop designs within a BIM design environmentReview junior team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirementsLead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Professional Engineer (PEng) registration

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm.Experience managing an Electrical Engineering Department is strongly preferred.Presentation experience with clients.Knowledgeable in power systems design including MV and LV systems.Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects.Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.Experience in the following markets: DoD, Healthcare and Labs, Corporate Commercial / Mixed Use.Experience with sustainable design.Documented experience with advanced design, and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms.Analyze equipment energy use for optimizing systems selection.
