Due to high growth HES are searching for Electrical Engineers - Power System/High Voltage Testing. The positions would see the successful candidates join the HES ‘Resources’ team, that services the resource sector within the Pilbara and surrounding areas, as well many other mining, oil and gas and infrastructure customers across the whole of WA.
We are seeking motivated and talented Power System/High Voltage Testing Engineers to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and contribute to the development of safe and efficient power systems.
The Power System/High Voltage Testing Engineers will be involved in testing, commissioning, and maintenance of High Voltage assets. They will also be involved in the production of design reports, testing, programming, and electrical design.
Duties and responsibilities:
Provide a High Voltage testing, commissioning and maintenance serviceProtection Relay's testing (Siemens, ABB, Alstom, GE & SEL)Competent in using the following equipment & associated software: OMICRON CMC & CPC100, MEGGER, DOBLE, BAUREquipment Interlock logics & GOOSE configurationCompetent in testing and commissioning of IEC61850 functionality of Protection relayDetermining the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and other equipmentProtection design and grading for new and upgrading facilitiesArc fault surveys and site upgrades / ComplianceCompiling and delivering HV Submissions for upgrades and network design changesProject upgrades and integration of protection and switchgear into new and existing networksDeveloping testing procedure for different high voltage electrical assets such as electric motors, power transformers, cables, switchgear etcSupervising the operation and maintenance of power stations, transmission and distribution systems and industrial plantsYou will need to be very flexible with the expectation that you may be asked at short notice to mobilise or de-mobilise from one job to another anywhere across the region. You may also be asked to work in remote locations on fixed FIFO rotations.
To be considered for this role you will need:
Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline At least 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience Good knowledge of power systems and high voltage testing principlesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying potential hazardsStrong analytical and technical skillsStrong IT skills, particularly with MS Excel Enthusiasm and curiosity to learn and ask questionsBe available to work away on remote mine sitesValid Driver's LicenceBe an Australian citizen or permanent resident or have the right to work and remain in AustraliaWe are a dynamic team of professionals who offer a supportive environment, with further personal development encouraged.
