Electrical Engineer - Labs
About the Team

DoorDash Labs, established in 2018, serves as the innovation hub for DoorDash, focusing on developing automation and robotics solutions to enhance last-mile logistics. The team's mission is to create technologies that support and augment human networks, aiming to improve efficiency for Dashers, merchants, and consumers alike.  We’re ruthlessly focused on business impact.  We are a highly senior team composed of former pioneers from a variety of different robotics industries.  As of 2025, DoorDash has completed 10B lifetime deliveries.  We’re focused on how to do the next 10B even better.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team, with a focus on developing mission-critical electrical systems for unmanned platforms. This role demands a strong background in power systems, RF, and embedded digital design. The ideal candidate has a passion for building and shipping reliable hardware, and thrives in an environment that demands technical depth and time-critical, high-quality execution.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will… Architect and implement electrical subsystems including: Power systems: batteries, BMS, DC/DC converters, and power distribution. Motion control: motor drivers, sensors, encoders, and interface electronics. RF systems: radios, antennas, and EMI/EMC-conscious layout and integration. Digital and mixed-signal board design: microcontrollers, FPGAs, and sensors. Own the full lifecycle of electrical hardware from concept, schematic capture, layout review, through bring-up, validation, and production handoff. Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware into complex robotic platforms. Drive design for reliability and manufacturability (DVT, EVT, HALT, etc.). Lead board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting using lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.). Support initial firmware bring-up and integration as needed (bare metal or RTOS). We're excited about you because…  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 8+ years of experience in hands-on electrical hardware development. Proven track record of shipping production-grade electronics for real-world systems. Expertise in one or more of the following: Power electronics and energy systems for mobile platforms. Digital and analog circuit design, simulation, and layout best practices. RF system design and EMI/EMC-aware layout techniques. Strong hands-on experience with board bring-up, testing, and debugging. Fluent with tools like Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications… Experience working on unmanned or electric vehicles. Familiarity with firmware development in C/C++ and embedded system integration. Practical experience working on functional safety (e.g. ISO 26262) systems Experience with high-reliability systems and testing to industry standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, etc.). You’ve shipped hardware at scale in a safety-critical application Thrive in high-integrity, fast-paced, high-stakes engineering environments  You are an engineer in your personal life and have the projects to prove it Have worked with in house and contract manufacturing teams Are obsessed with craftsmanship Live and breathe extreme ownership
