Department Summary
The Controls Team Focuses on the design and modeling of a diverse range of dynamic mechatronic systems. This includes the integration and programming of the devices that will control the equipment and interface with material delivery and sortation systems throughout the plant. Works with the electrical design and overall project teams to document systems, coordinate electrical standardization and ensure consistence between projects. Designs and drafts control systems for material handling solutions using AutoCAD Electrical as needed. Drawing sets include device layout drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, and network and installation details.

Responsibilities Works closely with project leads to design schematic drawing sets based on project requirementsDesigns system layouts, network layouts, and installation detailsPrepares schematics and panel layouts for control panel fabricationCreates bills of material for panelsCoordinates ordering of field materials and panelsPrints, plots, and assembles drawing sets for electrician bids, stamping, and field installationIdentifies and implements automation tools within the department to improve efficiencyUpdates drawings to “as-built” status at project completionActive participant in the team’s overall objectivesTravels up to 20% Qualifications Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3 years of experience designing industrial controls in a CAD environmentKnowledge of design of controls and controllers such as Rockwell/Allen-BradleyProficient with an electrical CAD design software; AutoCAD Electrical 2013+ preferredKnowledge of electrical controls terminologyKnowledge of NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 79 and other electrical/safety standardsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDetail-orientedTeam-oriented and collaborativeCreative-thinking and problem-solving skillsSelf-motivatedAbility to work non-traditional hours
