The Electrical Distribution System (EDS) In-House Design and Release (D&R) Champs is responsible for supporting the design, development, validation, and release of the wiring harnesses to achieve cost saving targets, as well as developing process improvements within the EDS department.

Under their responsibility, the EDS Champs is also responsible for supporting design improvements that lead to quality increase, cost and weight optimizations.
Lead complexity reduction for a specific program / platform:
+ Analyze program features offering.
+ Generate harness complexity charts.
+ Identify complexity reduction opportunities.
+ Estimate giveaway cost.
+ Present a business case.
+ Monitor opportunities implementation.
Lead cost reduction actions for the EDS department in a specific program during 2025:
+ Define workplans, timelines to meet design freeze, release, and validation of cost reduction ideas.
+ Estimate cost and tooling investments for design changes utilizing Ford approved tools.
+ Release parts in bill of material as required.
+ Report to cost reduction leads and EDS Manager on weekly basis.
+ Host cost reduction events (coordinate the revision of physical parts to find material saving opportunities).
Development of process improvements for the EDS department:
+ Use fresh eyes at existing processes within EDS.
+ Identify and support team’s process improvement initiatives.
+ Document processes.
Lead quality improvement actions for the EDS department in a specific program during 2025:
+ Analyze warranty, early binning and internal quality indicators for EDS wiring harnesses.
+ Identify Interim Containment Actions and Permanent Containment Actions to resolve warranties.
+ Define workplans, timelines to meet design freeze and validation of quality fixes.
+ Estimate cost and tooling investments for design changes utilizing Ford approved tools.
Report to quality team and EDS Manager on weekly basis.
Specific Description:
1. Complies with program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets.
2. Complies with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality history, P-Diagram, FMEA, etc.)
3. Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D
4. Supports Technical Design Reviews (TDRs)
5. Lead Material cost reductions.
6. Could release parts in Bill of Material and WERS. Support the Change Control Meeting.
7. Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.
8. Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per specifications.
9. Could support issues resolution.
10. Support the analysis and breakdown of PDL (program direction letter) and Trim Spiders.
11. Generate proposals to minimize giveaway cost and reduce total part count.
12. Develop and maintain the build level complexity charts.
13. Perform Harness Complexity Analysis.
14. Lead and perform engineering cost estimates.
15. Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.
16. Parts implementation/Sign-off in assembly plant & assistance with quality issues at different milestones.
17. Assists EDS teams in any way possible to remove roadblocks and get the job done. This may include writing concerns, alerts, or other D&R tasks.
+ Active student from any of the last 4 semesters of **Engineering Degree (electrical desirable).**
+ Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral).
+ Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
+ Basic 3D CAD Knowledge
+ Understanding of automotive systems.

+ Understanding of feature partitioning.
+ Programming skills
