This Position reports to:

Electrical Engineering Manager


 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate electrical design drawings and models to support project goals. Using both 2D and 3D design tools, this role involves creating layouts, schematics, and documentation in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements. The designer collaborates closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, constructible, and code-compliant designs. Key responsibilities include managing drawing revisions, supporting design reviews, adhering to established workflows, and contributing to problem-solving throughout the design process. The role also involves staying current with industry practices and design technologies to support continuous improvement and project success.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Energy Industries division in Houston, TX.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Contributing to the preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet the contractual obligations, adhering to relevant standards, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.

Preparing and maintaining accurate electrical design drawings using 2D and 3D tools.

Supporting the development of design concepts into complete documentation sets.

Checking and verifying designs for completeness, clarity, and accuracy.

Creating and maintaining organized records of design files, revisions, and supporting documentation.

Updating design documents throughout project life cycles.

Using standard processes and tools and assisting in developing new processes and tools for the reuse of technical solutions.

Assisting in the development of design templates, libraries, and symbols / components.

Participating in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineering leads or project managers

Mentoring junior designers or drafters in best practices and tool usage where appropriate.

Communicating effectively with team members, vendors, and clients to resolve design issues.

Qualifications for the role

You enjoy working with 2D and 3D modelling software for projects in the industrial market

Proficiency in 2D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical)

Proficiency in 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or Inventor).

Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable routing.

Familiarity of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE, CSA) is a plus.

Ability to generate accurate bills of materials (BOM), reports, and documentation.

Certification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks Electrical) is a plus.

Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in an industrial, commercial, or construction environment.

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., mechanical, structural, and civil designers)

Experience interpreting and developing electrical control systems and single-line diagrams.

You are currently a permanent resident of the USA.
