Electrical Designer

Job Description

The Electrical Designer will support the design of panels and wiring systems for overhead systems. You will be designing panels and electrical schematics in E-plan/ AutoCAD.

- Developing, updating and modifying electrical schematics and bills of material

- Including but not limited to electrical circuit load calculations pertaining to circuit breakers and fusing, VFD sizing, electrical device selections and recommendations

- VFD knowledge a plus, will be opportunity to become well versed in VFD operation and troubleshooting

‐ Liaising with clients and other engineers, including mechanical engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications

‐ Assisting with continued research and development efforts on our current and future products and projects

‐ Display an understanding of Variable Frequency Drives and their ancillary devices, i.e. encoders, relays, PLC I/O

‐ Work with the shop assembly personnel to assist in the build process by providing timely solutions to questions which may arise and/or provide solution for problematic operation during the product testing stage

KEY TASKS:

Coordinates Projects

- Works with Electrical Engineer as appropriate to organize and accomplish the goals and projects assigned

- Communicates with the other electrical and mechanical engineers on project requirements, conflicts and design issues

Drafts Projects

- Develops the electrical design of products, using computer aided design/drafting equipment and software

- Specifies system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance requirements

- Works with purchasing and vendors to obtain needed parts

- Maintains communication with other engineers on the project scope

Releases Projects to the Shop

- Review of own electrical engineering schematics, documentation, detailed instructions and BOMs to be released to production

- Provides occasional peer review of electrical engineering schematics, documentation, details instructions and BOMs to be release to production

Must Have

- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, EET, or a similar field

- 3+ years of experience with Electrical Drafting/Designing

- Controls Design (panel design / panel layout)

- AutoCAD or E-plan design software experience

- Strong communication and personal skills

Nice to Have

- VFD (variable frequency drives) experience

- Crane or material handling industry experience

- Knowledge of NEMA, NEC, CSA, UL, NFPA and other engineering standards

- 5+ years of electrical design experience

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
