Role Definition:

Design, development and testing of electrical and/or electronic components for use within machines and electrical systems.

Responsibilities:
•    Analysing the requirements of electrical systems and components based on customer satisfaction; making and adjusting design plans accordingly.
•    Designing, testing and creating electrical systems and components, while ensuring that products can work alone and/or are compatible with other systems.
•    Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components.
•    Collaborating with colleagues in electrical, mechanical and other engineering branches.
•    Complying with safety regulations throughout the development process.

Degree Requirement and Work Experience
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
•    4+ years of experience in product design & development related to electrification technologies like Motors, Electric Drives, Battery energy storage systems, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc
•    Working knowledge of the NPI process
•    Functional validation testing experience will be an added advantage.

•    Anticipates the challenges and opportunities associated with creating components like motor laminations, castings, printed circuit boards, etc.
•    Interprets alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations.
•    Advises on matching methodology, materials and tools to the electric product that is being built.
•    Consults on engineering multiple electronic circuits, components or devices.
•    Evaluates the benefits and drawbacks of analog and digital circuits.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
•    Communicates with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.
•    Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
•    Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
•    Assists in building a complex prototype of product.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Documents test process and results; prepares and analyses defect-tracking reports.
•    Summarizes features of a specific product-testing process and associated procedures.
•    Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions.
•    Discusses and compares usability, safety and integration testing.
•    Develops product-testing procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools.

Supplier Management: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
•    Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
•    Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
•    Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
•    Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
