We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Control Technician to join our Maintenance Team at Smithton. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for providing technical support, diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical and control equipment, and contributing to process improvements and new projects through the development, modification, installation, and commissioning of electrical control systems and PLC programs.

Key Responsibilities

Program and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA, and communication systemsOversee site-wide electrical systems, ensuring compliance with local standards and regulationsCollaborate with maintenance and production teams to support operational efficiencyUtilize Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance activitiesIdentify, source, and procure electrical and control equipment as requiredDesign and implement plant improvements and modifications to enhance productivityDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in plant electrical and control systemsTest, install, and calibrate transducers and actuatorsInstall and configure variable frequency and servo drivesSupport the training and development of Electricians and Apprentices

Adhering to Work Health & Safety (WH&S) policies, including safe lifting protocolsFollowing established procedures and work instructionsMaintaining good manufacturing practices and food safety standards

Mandatory Qualifications and Skills

Current A Class Electrical LicenseElectrical Trade CertificateBackground in continuous process manufacturing

Desirable Qualifications

Proven experience and/or qualifications in Allen Bradley PLC systemsProficiency in RSLogix programmingExperience with Beckhoff, Siemens, and Omron systems
