The MFG Automation Engineer (Controls), is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and will be located in Lodi, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions. The role will be split shift working from 1:00pm-9:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Perform reliability-centered maintenance activities for electrical systems, including Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-based programs such as Thermal Imaging, Ultrasound, Motor Testing, and Control loop evaluations.Execute, repair, and monitor key electrical and control processes, including Inspections, Testing & Maintenance (IT&M), and Electrical Safety protocols, while providing engineering feedback to improve automation performance.Support advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis (IFA) across control systems including sensors, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, servo and drive systems, motion controllers, heating systems, RTDs, MCCs, and thermal probes.Lead training efforts for Line Technicians by implementing electrical and control learning plans and supporting the development of job aids, OCAPs, SOPs, and one-point lessons (OPLs).Act as a Controls System Subject Matter Expert, partnering with cross-functional teams to refine standards, elevate system reliability, and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Mechatronics, or related field with 2+ years of related experience Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with electro-mechanical equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment, including Proficient with Allen-Bradley PLC 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: 

Experience with Servo systems, ControlLogix, Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), and Epson Robots. In-depth knowledge of SCADA systems (Ignition/Factory talk), Ladder Logic, Profibus, VB Script, RSLinx, HMIs - configuration, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.

The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000 annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
