Short Description

The Phlebotomist/EKG technician is the primary person responsible for collecting laboratory specimens and performing EKGs on patients treated in the outpatient setting, including off site locations and nursing homes.  Collecting laboratory specimens from hospital inpatients. Patients range in age from newborn to older adult.

Experience Required

0-2 years' experience required.

 

Education Requirements

High School/GED required.

Vocational/Technical School preferred

Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary methods.

License/Certification Requirements

Formal Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Special Requirements

A minimum of one year’s consecutive experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
