Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineer to support our Calgary-based team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering practical, cost-effective solutions for brownfield projects in the energy sector. The successful candidate will bring a well-rounded background in instrumentation and controls, with a strong focus on engineering design. Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in design/drafting and the ability to independently manage small to mid-sized projects from concept through to execution.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop project deliverables including scopes of work, schedules, engineering man-hour estimates, and capital cost estimates for brownfield projects.Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure alignment across all project phases—from front-end engineering to detailed design and construction support.Design and review electrical and control systems including hazardous area classification drawings, MV/LV load lists and power system studies, single line diagrams, schematics, and control philosophies.Design PLC architectures, cabinet layouts, I/O schematics, and cable schedules.Design lighting, grounding, and heat tracing systems.Prepare and manage procurement documentation such as data sheets, material requisitions, and bid evaluations for a wide range of EI&C equipment.Provide technical oversight and mentorship to design/drafting personnel, ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.Conduct field reviews, support construction activities, and troubleshoot issues during commissioning and start-up.Interface with clients and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met with a focus on safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.Contribute to multi-discipline estimating efforts and support business development initiatives as needed.Essential SkillsDegree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.7+ years of relevant experience in EI&C engineering, preferably in brownfield oil & gas or industrial projects.Proficiency in industry tools such as ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD, and PLC programming environments.Strong understanding of Canadian Electrical Code and applicable industry standards.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications10-15 years of experience with EIC scope design; consideration for more Sr. candidates if they have strong knowledge in all three areas.Experience in a small EPC setting required.Experience with brownfield projects in the upstream space.EIT, P.Eng not required.Able to handle small-medium sized projects with minimal supervision.NEC code knowledge, projects in US (North Dakota).Strong communicator, able to interface with clients.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
