EHS Specialist
Overview The role focuses on developing and driving our Safety culture across the Technology Process Center (TPC). This center provides services to R&D Development work in addition to production of smaller Service to Sales initiatives such as our E-commerce business. This position will be responsible for leading/managing site safety programs and developing/managing site training programs which support both internal PepsiCo associates as well as any contract labor on-site. There is a specific focus on closing historical gaps with Legacy equipment documentation and safety protocols. Responsibilities Serve as the Safety point of contact for local, state and federal government at our Technology Process Center location Ensure site compliance to PepsiCo Global Environmental Health & Safety Standards Provide leadership for the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of the facility health and safety policies and procedures. Drive GEHSMS implementation at TPC, including education and active leadership as a Standard Owner. Conduct EHS Investigations for accident, incident, near-miss investigations, and provide recommendations for process, procedure or equipment changes to eliminate future occurrences Drive development of EHS- Safety first – Culture at the site, through engaging campaigns, training and events. Lead weekly safety inspections of the facility Perform job hazard and job safety analysis citing specific hazards and methods for remediation Engage team members and develop EHS programs to drive awareness and improved safety program Provide training support to current employees and new hires as needed Drive all safety communications with internal and external teams Work with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance to PepsiCo EHS standards and coordinate applicable inspections Comply with all related regulatory requirements for documentation and reporting Support Safety program owners and coordinate scheduled program reviews. Develop, manage, support site training programs – Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, and process Develop safety-related SOP and SSOP documentation for facility operations and equipment Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $59,400 - $92,600. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with preference for safety designation (CSP or equivalent) or demonstrated progress towards this designation. 2 yrs minimum EHS Management System and EHS Auditing Passion for safety and care of others. Experience in an EHS professional role with manufacturing processes safety and lab safety Fundamental knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and Environmental, Health and Safety Management System Results orientated and self-motivated Ability to set, guide and influence a wide health and safety agenda. Flexible – this is a 1 shift operation for majority of work however there must be willingness to flex schedule based on the work being done onsite.
