Working without appreciable supervision, leads and supports environmental program and assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs/policies/practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and effective injury and illness prevention programs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In support of site EHS team and enterprise environmental manager, coordinate and lead environmental compliance activities, programs and prevention efforts.Support EHS programs in performing environmental analyses, training, workplace incident investigations, inspections and internal audits as directed.Support EHS programs in the management of hazardous waste activities including the collection, transportation and disposal of all hazardous waste in compliance with all applicable regulations.Review new hazardous materials and check incoming material for MSDS’s, unique usage and storage characteristics. Works with end user to ensure proper usage and disposal. Provides guidance as necessary.Develop and lead compliance training.Review and maintain SDS database and site chemical inventories.Supports EHS management in conducting reviews for facility modification, new product development, product modification and new equipment/machinery as directed.On call for EHS emergencies (24/7).Support ISO 14001 process and its maintenance.Responsible for assigned duties and tasks as defined by the Environmental Management System.Work under the direct supervision of the EHS Management, while independently working and solving day-to-day problems. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.Selects and applies environmental management principles, theories and concepts and uses independent judgment to develop and design imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to difficult environmental issues.Supports EHS management in the maintenance of the facility’s Emergency Response and Fire Plans.Supports site Safety Coordinators and Emergency Coordinator process and other duties as assigned. Inspect and procure emergency response and disaster preparedness materials and equipment and coordinate applicable training as needed.Supports EHS management in the gathering of data for the establishment of report metrics pertinent to EHS activities.Support all initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirementsComplies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in environmental studies, health sciences, EHS, Occupational Health and Safety, or related academic field2+ years of Environmental work experience. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.Experience filling out and submitting air, water and waste permits, and deviation reportsKnowledge of SPCC planExperience doing inventory and inspections for waste storage and universal wasteAbility to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.Solid leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.Solid verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. The base pay for this position is $50,000.00 – $100,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
