**Primary purpose of the position:**
Support the EHS Manager in
+ Implementing Balls environmental, health and safety (EHS) policy and procedures, and sustainability initiatives and managing the plants, EHS, fire safety and property protection (FSPP), sustainability, security* and facilities* programmes to ensure the safety and well-being of all workers and protection of the environment.
+ Providing advice and guidance on EHS, FSPP, sustainability, security* and facility* issues.
+ The proactive management of EHS, FSPP and security* risks to ensure the plant meets it compliance obligations and Ball requirements and implements best practice.
+ Coordinating EHS activity, including EHS management systems (ISO and ASI) (certified where applicable)
+ Completing administrative tasks
**Essential Responsible Areas:**
**Environmental, Health & Safety**
Support the delivery of Aerosol division EHS strategy, KPIs and programmes as defined by the plants local plan and initiatives. Monitor, evaluate and report on the KPIs, plans and initiatives.
Support BBS and proactive reporting and engagement initiatives such as near miss, hazard and/or good catch. Analyse reports, identify trends and assist in developing programmes that promote safe behaviours and a positive safety culture.
Be aware of EHS compliance obligations (e.g. laws, regulations, permits, licences etc) and stakeholder requirements (e.g. Regulatory authorities, FSPP insurance). Support monitoring and reporting of compliance.
Promote personal ownership and engagement across all levels and facilitate individual understanding of EHS accountabilities and responsibilities. Escalate issues promptly to the EHS Manager.
Assist in hazard identification and risk assessment programmes that apply the hierarchy of control and incorporate the Ball LiFE programme, EHS Centres of Excellence (CoE) and hazard mapping.
Assist in environment aspects and significant impacts assessment for emissions to air, waste, water, wastewater, energy and VOCs. Monitor programs for managing environmental impacts such as waste minimisation, pollution prevention and ecological issues. Check and report on the status of environmental protection infrastructure.
Make timely reports of EHS incidents and complaints. Support investigation and root cause analysis. Monitor status of corrective actions. Complete statistical studies and reports including Enablon and Alerts.
Develop, complete, analyse and report on EHS monitoring, inspection and audit programmes. Follow-up on corrective actions.
Takes part in the development, implementation and maintenance of EHS programmes, requirements, rules, procedures, EHS management systems, occupational / industrial hygiene, occupational health and well-being programmes and support the drive for continuous improvement.
Use a range of communication and consultation channels to raise awareness, drive engagement, provide information on EHS issues and liaise with Safety Committee and Representatives.
Support liaisons with external and internal stakeholders to facilitate meeting their requirements.
Liaise with other functional area such as HR, Engineering and maintenance, production, process, continuous improvement, facilities to coordinate EHS activities.
Support EHS training needs analysis and development including induction training. Arrange/assign training and plan refreshers. Maintain training records. Develop and deliver simple training programmes.
Monitor programs to safely manage contractors and visitors.
Maintain EHS and FSPP records in a retrievable format for the required duration and in accordance with any regulatory requirements. Prepare required internal and external reports.
Collaborate on EHS requirements linked to projects (new/modifications to lines, equipment, processes etc.) so that new hazards are adequately controlled.
Support the implementation, testing and training of emergency response plans and the inspection and maintenance of emergency systems and equipment.
Assess and provide personal protective equipment and ensure workers know when and how to use correctly
Perform any other EHS duties required by the EHS manager or Operational Risk including flexibility to cover abnormal/emergency situations and changing needs of the business.
Maintain EHS competency through continuous professional development.
**Sustainability**
Monitor, record, analyse and report data as required by Group Sustainability and Balls sustainability programmes.
Maintain EHS management system that complies with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) requirements.
Support the implementation and promotion of local sustainability strategies and plans.
**Facilities**
Monitor and support the processes for building maintenance, grounds maintenance, cleaning, catering, vending and utilities programmes to help ensure buildings and facilities meet EHS requirements (add or remove any that do or do not apply)
**Security**
Monitor and support the processes for facility, workers and third parties (e.g. contractors, visitors and haulier drivers) security and safety.
**Professional & Education Qualification**
Relevant basic EHS qualification (minimum certificate or local equivalent) including relevant qualification stipulated in the country of operation (if applicable Insert here what this would be e.g. UK NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent)
Alternatively Safety representative role with relevant experience of at least 3 years in manufacturing, heavy engineering, construction or similar industry

Ability to discuss and communicate in English (fluent proficiency) on a variety of job-related topics in oral and written form
**Requirements**
Essential
At least 3 years EHS experience in a similar industry with shopfloor engagement and knowledge of EHS risks in manufacturing.
Good knowledge of EHS legislative requirements
Excellent computer skills (Proficient in MS Office Suite)
Desirable
Working knowledge of Behavioural based safety programmes
Working within ISO45001, ISO14001, food safety standards, security management* and facilities management*.
