The Environment, Health, Hygiene and Safety (EHHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental protection across the organization.
Location: Johnson & Johnson facilities - Gurabo, Puerto RicoSchedule: Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm - Flexibility to work Saturday/Sunday/Holidays as neededKey Responsibilities
Design and execute comprehensive EHHS policies, procedures, and programs aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practicesProactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards through regular safety inspections, environmental monitoring, and detailed risk assessmentsSpearhead thorough incident investigations, including detailed root cause analyses and development of effective corrective action plansEnsure strict compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations through systematic monitoring and auditing processesServe as the primary technical resource on workplace safety matters to management and employeesDevelop and deliver engaging EHHS training programs tailored to different employee levels and job functionsEstablish and maintain a robust documentation system for safety incidents, inspections, and compliance activitiesPrepare and submit required regulatory reports with meticulous attention to detail and timelinessLead and coordinate emergency response planning, including organizing emergency drills and evaluating response effectivenessAnalyze EHHS performance metrics to identify trends, develop strategic improvement initiatives, and measure program effectivenessAdvocate for and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organizationAdditional Responsibilities: Any other duties as required by business needs and the nature of the positionEnvironmental Conditions
Work is performed in various environments including office settings, industrial facilities, construction sites, and outdoor locationsMay be exposed to high noise levels, dust, fumes, chemicals, and other potential workplace hazards during inspections and assessmentsRequired to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting certain areasMay occasionally work in adverse weather conditions during outdoor inspections or emergency response situationsPotential exposure to high-stress situations during incident investigations or emergency responsesMay need to work in confined spaces, at heights, or around operating machinery when conducting evaluationsPhysical Requirements
Ability to access various work environments including office, industrial, and field settingsMay require occasional travel to different facility locationsCapability to respond to emergencies and incidents as neededRequirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related fieldOSHA 30-hrs, general industry or construction, is required3-5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental managementStrong Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)Strong Skills in Revising, Developing and Implementing JHAs, EHS-Related Procedures, and InvestigationsIn-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.)Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAdvanced English skills, both written and oralExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to influence and drive cultural change across diverse teamsProficient with safety management software and data analysis toolsExperience conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategiesPreferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferredLocation:
