The Opportunity
Employment Type:Permanent Part Time 0.5 FTE Hours of Work:0800-1600Position is based out of Gibsons, but will also provide some virtual support to our New Westminster location.Wages:$28.06-$38.97
Reporting to the Director of Quality and Professional Development, the Educator prepares regulated and unregulated staff for their roles as caregivers or regulated nurses in a variety of care settings. The Educator provides leadership in the clinical practice setting, while supporting staff in coaching and skills updates. The Educator assists in the development, execution, and revision of teaching materials in alignment with Provincial legislation and the Standards. The education being provided ensures each staff members can adapt to the changing environment of the healthcare industry and continue to learn as updates and legislation evolve. The Educator holds an important role in the support of staff to achieve competent, safe, and ethical care for their residents/clients.
Educational and other Qualifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse – current registration, and in good standing with CLPNA or BCCNPWork Experience
Three to five years working with the frail elderlyThree to five years adult education experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional mannerDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationshipsHigh proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including email and internetAdept at written and oral English communication with internal and external customersExcellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and work within demanding timelinesStrong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate staffAdvanced critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve issues independently and/or make recommendations that are supported by evidence consistent with legislation/policies, and that meets the standard of careExhibits an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equallyMaintains an individual's dignity and self-worth during conversationsExcellent active listening skillsDemonstrates flexibility by changing routine to accommodate organizational needsAbility to travel between programs/care homes within the region
