Requisition ID: req59011 Job Title: Educator Sector: Education Employment Category: Co-staff Italy Employment Type: Part-Time Open to Expatriates: No Location: Milan, Italy Work Arrangement:In-person Job Description Since 2021, IRC has partnered with local education systems to enhance educators’ capacity to create environments that foster children's well-being and holistic development in safe, welcoming and child-friendly settings. A special focus is given to children who have experienced, or are at risk of, adverse childhood experiences, particularly migrant and refugee children. Education is a right, and the key to a bright future, and displaced children often face difficulty in accessing and integrating into schools. IRC is involved in several EU-funded projects that promote inclusive education and support for refugee and migrant students across Europe. In the Theory of Change project, IRC collaborates with other organizations based in Italy, Greece, Cyprus, and Sweden to support educators, migrant adolescents, and families in overcoming challenges related to education and integration. Job Overview The Educator will support refugee and migrant children and adolescents and their families through inclusive, community-based educational programming, by contributing to the implementation of the Theory of Change project and on the expansion of IRC education programming in Milan. Under the Protection and Program Development Manager supervision and in collaboration with the Senior Education Officer, local partners and external stakeholders, the Educator will co-facilitate group activities focused on language learning and social-emotional development, delivering orientation sessions for children and adolescents, and engaging caregivers on key topics to support their children’s learning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Provide education case management and orientation for adolescent students. • Co-facilitate group sessions for children and adolescents on language learning and social-emotional skills using IRC materials. • Co-facilitate group sessions with caregivers on child development and education-related topics. • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, case conferences, workshops, trainings, and team meetings. • Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure compliance with reporting and data management protocols. • Support other program-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Reporting Lines Position directly reports to: Protection and Program Development Manager Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, social sciences, psychology, or a related field (or in progress). Work Experience: • Prior experience (voluntary or paid) working with children, adolescents, or vulnerable communities. Demonstrated Skills & Competencies: • Basic understanding of inclusive education, child protection, or social-emotional learning. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage effectively with adolescents and caregivers. • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. • Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in documentation. • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. • Proficiency in Italian and good command of English; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Arabic, Farsi, Tigrinya, Ukrainian) is an asset. • Flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to learn in a dynamic work environment. • Working Environment: • Part-time, on-site position with direct engagement in community-based educational settings.
