Office of Teaching and Learning – Diverse Learners
Job Focus Area:
The Division of Diverse Learners is looking for an Education Consultant 4 to oversee the development and implementation of instructional resources for diverse learners, serve as the lead project manager for the Special Education Playbook, and oversee the SPED Fellow Academy program.
The Office of Teaching & Learning - Academic Content is looking for someone with the following qualities and skillset:
•Extensive knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA);
•Experience developing effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with high incidence disabilities;
•Experience supporting students with high incidence disabilities;
•Knowledge of the Special Education Playbook.
Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Education Consultant 4, daily responsibilities include:
+ Oversee the development and implementation of instructional support resources for K-12 students with disabilities.
+ Serve as the lead project manager for implementation of the Special Education Playbook.
+ Oversee the SPED Fellow Academy Program by serving as the lead project manager, subject matter expert, communication liaison, and agency representative for this program.
+ Analyzes, evaluates, and approves vendor curriculum and professional development as the Division of Diverse Learners liaison.
+ Builds structures for communication and collaboration across teams within and outside the Department to ensure projects and policies related to students with disabilities are integrated and coherent with Department strategy and initiatives.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $2,500 bi-weekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
