This position will be domiciled at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center in Minden, LA
Make a real impact on education in Louisiana’s correctional system. As an Education Program Consultant, you’ll lead statewide efforts to improve student achievement through data-driven decision-making, program oversight, and professional development. You'll manage federal grant compliance, oversee education programs across the northern region facilities, and ensure accurate reporting for enrolled students. To lead and support the implementation, monitoring, and compliance of Title I, Part D and Adult Education programs across correctional and reentry facilities in the northern region of Louisiana. This role ensures accurate data reporting, supports instructional staff, and enhances educational services to improve outcomes for justice-involved learners.
No two days are the same. You’ll operate with a high level of independence, overseeing multiple facilities, conducting site visits, and driving compliance and program quality across the region.

Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
1. Program Oversight and Grant Compliance
Provide leadership and oversight for the implementation of Title I, Part D and Adult Education programs within correctional and reentry facilities in northern Louisiana. Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines through regular site monitoring, audits, and coordination with facility staff.
2. Data Management and Reporting
Independently collect, manage, and report student and program data for state and federal agencies. Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance, assessments, staff credentials, and educational outcomes to support program accountability and continued funding.
3. Professional Development and Staff Training
Develop and deliver training on education policy, data reporting standards, and test security procedures. Support education staff across facilities through presentations, one-on-one coaching, and participation in state and national conferences to promote effective practices and continuous improvement.
Strong proficiency in educational data systemsand reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel and database management platforms.
Knowledge of federal and state education policies and grants, particularly Title I, Part D and Adult Education regulations.
Effective communication and training skills, including the ability to deliver professional development and technical guidance to diverse staff.
Familiarity with standardized testing protocols, such as TABE, and test security procedures.
A valid Louisiana driver’s license and ability to travel regionally for site visits and audits is required.
Work with education staff, instructors, and administrative personnel across correctional and reentry facilities in northern Louisiana, as well as state and federal education agencies.

Appointment Type:JOB APPOINTMENT
+ A job appointment is a temporary job lasting up to four years; however, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
+ This position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non-temporary position becomes available in the recruitment process.
+ If filled by probation, a permanent classified LA State employee, if selected, may be required to accept a probational appointment, or may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

+ Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.

+ Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and not the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
+ The maximum salary for the highest-level Education Consultant 3 is $103,293.00 annually.
