Education and Training Technician
Summary Education and Training Technician: This role provides technical oversight, mentorship, and in-classroom modeling (75% time) to early childhood staff. It ensures high-quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, leading classroom operations, monitoring safety/program quality, supporting professional development, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. This position is Limited Term, Not To Exceed 15 August 2026 Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides technical oversight, mentorship, and support to CDC assistants, lead assistants, and technicians, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to DoD, Air Force, and national accreditation standards. Leads classroom operations, coordinates with the Training and Curriculum Specialist, and supports the planning and delivery of developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Ensures a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment by performing daily health and safety checks, maintaining accountability of children, and monitoring staff compliance with health, safety, and supervision policies. Supports inclusive curriculum implementation and professional development across child and youth programs. Spends 75% of the time in classrooms, modeling developmentally appropriate practices, mentoring staff, and adapting activities to support children of all abilities, including those with behavioral or developmental concerns. Responsibilities include coaching staff on lesson execution, supporting training completion and documentation, monitoring safety and program quality, and providing technical assistance to improve inclusive practices. Collaborates with the Inclusion Action Team, engages families and community resources, and helps ensure the program meets regulatory and accreditation standards. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. QUALIFICATIONS (1) A bachelor's degree or higher in Youth Development, Child Development or a related field, which may include Recreation, Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with an emphasis in Human Development, or other degrees as appropriate and 2 years of experience working with children and/or youth. OR (2) A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of specialized experience in the child and/or youth profession. Specialized experience includes leading a team to care for and teach children in a Military childcare setting or similar work. (3) Education and experience must be clearly demonstrated in resume and supporting documents to qualify. (4) Knowledge of early childhood or youth education principles, concepts, and techniques to develop, interpret, monitor, and evaluate the execution of curriculum and age-appropriate activities. (5) Ability to support DoD certification, accreditation, and staff credentialing (Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate of Arts (AA) Degree) by ensuring that required training is administered and successfully accomplished to meet statutory and program requirements. Must have the ability to supervise and provide guidance and leadership to employees and providers. Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations including evacuations, child illness, and physical and emotional disorders. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills Condition(s) of Employment: Satisfactory completion and favorable adjudication of installation records checks, and state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lessons or instruction to children. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
