Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. Job DescriptionCNBC's commerce team is looking to hire a strategic and experienced editorial director to further develop its financial coverage for a broad consumer audience under the CNBC Select brand. CNBC Select is a consumer-friendly vertical of CNBC devoted to providing rigorous reviews and advice on personal finance products so our readers can make informed decisions.
The Editorial Director will be responsible for executing strategy and overseeing the day-to-day content production and optimization. This leader will guide the editorial team in creating clear, engaging, and impactful content while maintaining CNBC Select’s voice, standards, and mission across all platforms.
This role will manage the editorial calendar and a growing team of personal finance journalists, and collaborate cross-functionally with compliance, partnerships analytics, product and CNBC editorial teams to drive audience growth and revenue. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and journalist with deep experience in personal finance, commerce content, and service journalism.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a content strategy aligned with broader organizational goals.Oversee the editorial calendar, daily operations, publishing goals, and evergreen content updates.Approve all site content and ensure it meets CNBC Select’s editorial standards.Guide editors and reporters in translating data, research, and expert insights into clear, engaging, and actionable content.Work with SEO, social and analytics teams to build and execute strategies that improve site metrics and revenue.Work with the partnerships team to ideate and execute new revenue opportunities, including branded content and affiliate commerce.Manage editorial elements of new insertion orders and paid content opportunities.Partner with Product to optimize the content experience across platforms.Lead editorial meetings and contribute to analytics and strategy discussions.Oversee newsletters, social media, broadcast placements, and other off-site platforms.Ensure compliance with legal and standards teams as needed.What we’ll offer:

QualificationsMinimum 8 years of editorial experience, including 5+ years in personal finance or commerce content.At least 3 years managing an editorial team.Proven journalism skills and editorial judgment.Strong understanding of SEO, analytics, and affiliate marketing platforms (e.g., Skimlinks, Amazon, Rakuten).Experience with data-driven content strategy and optimization.Familiarity with tools like Parse.ly, Google Analytics, Google Trends, and Domo.Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Experience working with a growing brand and/or major news organization is a plus.Media training and experience as an expert on live television is a plus.Firm grasp of AP Style guidelines and editorial best practices.Desired Characteristics
