Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Observation Unit Tech assists the nursing and medical staff by performing selected procedures and tasks for the care of the Observation Unit patients.  They also perform duties as Unit Secretary/monitor tech, thus having both a clinical and clerical aspect to their role.  All functions must be within the scope of training and instruction received and is under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Communicates effectively to enhance unit 
operationsTranscribes orders according to policy and 
procedureMaintains the Medical RecordDocuments appropriately and according to 
policy and procedure on the medical recordEnters and transmits computer system information to other departments accurately and in a timely mannerDocuments and communicates information 
regarding patient rhythms and oxygen saturationsInitiates cardiac monitoring and maintain 
equipment and supplies

Minimum Requirements:

BLS within 90 daysMonitor Tech course completion within 90 days
