What's the role?

As Editor, eCommerce (Editorial), you’ll lead the editorial output, shaping content quality, team performance and growth across platforms. Reporting to the eCommerce Content Lead, you’ll support the delivery of content strategy and drive results by ensuring smooth editorial operations, high-impact storytelling and cross-functional alignment.

In this role, you will have eight direct reports, including a deputy (with shared people management) and five writers, with a dotted line to a social producer. You’ll also manage freelancers and contributors to ensure consistent delivery of content that’s authoritative, engaging and on-brand.

This role is central to scaling a high-performing content team that’s fast, agile and audience-obsessed.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive high-quality content execution across site, social and emerging platforms by leading the editorial team and aligning delivery with strategy

Oversee a team of writers, work closely with your deputy and social lead and collaborate with SEO, commercial and product stakeholders.

Provide actionable, high-impact feedback that supports both performance and professional development

Oversee editorial calendar, delivery cadence and daily editorial workflow across tentpole, seasonal and evergreen content

Manage freelance and contributor rosters to maintain output, consistency and quality

Optimise content based on performance data, SEO insights and editorial best practice

Collaborate with SEO, social, commercial and product stakeholders to align output with performance, revenue and amplification priorities

Work closely with the Content Lead to execute against growth strategy, including test-and-learn initiatives and content alignment across on-site, EDM and off-platform channels

Champion content that reflects brand voice, tone and user needs while fostering a high-performance, collaborative editorial culture

Monitor competitor activity and emerging trends to inform content direction and opportunities

Represent eComm editorial in stakeholder meetings and standups, ensuring performance and initiatives are visible and well-communicated

Who are you?

At least 5+ years proven editorial leadership/people management experience in a digital-first, fast-paced environment

Excellent people management skills – knows how to extract the best from a multidisciplinary team, manage performance and give clear, motivating feedback

Willing to have tricky conversations, coach writers and support career progression

Opportunity spotting, initiative, drive and the ability to inspire a team

Fast-paced, quick thinker, solutions-oriented and positive under pressure

Demonstrated ability to grow audience and revenue through editorial excellence

Broad content expertise across writing, editing, video and social

Proven experience of off-platform content management, creation and innovation

Strong content planning and coordination skills

High editorial standards and a nose for what cuts through

Strong stakeholder relationship-building and management skills

Comfortable creating video and appearing on-camera where required

Confident public speaker who can advocate for the brand in internal and external settings

Experience using multiple CMS platforms and creative tools such as Canva and Monday

Desirable: Newsroom experience, understanding of the changing SEO landscape, experience managing EDMs and editing social video
