Kimley-Horn has a challenging opportunity for a full-time Ecologist/Environmental Analyst in our Atlanta office. Duties include field surveys for ecological resources (wetlands, streams, and protected species), report writing, GIS map and database creation, and coordination/permitting under various environmental regulations including the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act. The position will primarily involve transportation industry projects, including roadway widenings, bridge replacements, intersection improvements, and trails.

Responsibilities

• A bachelor or graduate degree in ecology, environmental science, botany/plant biology, soil sciences, forestry, or a closely related field

• Flexibility to travel as required for project work

• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments concurrently

• Strong communication and organization skills as well as a positive attitude/support mentality

• A willingness to broaden one’s skillset and cross-train in other related disciplines to achieve greater utilization potential.

Qualifications

• Interest in transportation projects
• ArcGIS Pro skills
• Plant identification skills, particularly in the southeast US
• Soil science skills, particularly in the southeast US
• Familiarity with natural resource regulations and water quality regulatory programs, particularly the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act
• Willingness to temporarily travel to support other Kimley-Horn offices
