Job Description

The External Contract Manufacturer Senior Operation Consultant (ECM) role is responsible for driving end-to-end supply chain excellence in alignment with global and regional enterprise initiatives. In this important role, you’ll ensure external and internal suppliers meet expectations in compliance (social, regulatory and quality), customer service, production conformance, total delivered cost savings, while delivering innovation commitments. You’ll establish a strategic relationship with the ECMs (mainly KCM), managing end to end value stream of the entire product portfolio with each manufacturing site. This role takes full ownership of portfolio and projects which includes developing multiple projects and qualification, manage tactical operation and inject volume support demanded by the business.

Customers and collaborative partners

Externally, this role will primarily interact with external contract manufacturing partners, with primary focus to manage the KCM business strategy and collaboration; including senior leaders of the contract manufacturers, with support from internal cross-functional teams. Internally, this role will interact with different levels of stakeholders in value stream, PMO, quality, regulatory, logistics, R&E, planning, marketing and procurement, leading NA business needs.

Annual Landed Cost: supports spend up to $150MM

Accountabilities

Ensure supply and deliver top tier customer service: proactively assess risks, capacity, capabilities and alternate options within the ECM network to ensure supply and deliver top tier customer service with Supplier On Time In Full (sOTIF) of >95%

Capable and robust ECM network: proactively identify, develop and assess manufacturing designs, capacity and capability within the supply network or alternate supply sources, to deliver the business needs

Supply activation- must be able to own, lead and project manage different initiatives and priorities with strong sense of urgency and agility. Must be the operation liaison representing the ECMs, while managing multiple projects and qualification

Relationship Management- build strong relationships with leaders and operating teams of ECMs, internal regional ECM leaders and cross functional business partners

Ensure compliance: collaborate with respective functions to achieve objectives in regulatory, social, quality, supply agreements, procurement and financial compliance

Improve product costs: achieve 3-5% cost improvement annually across the end-to-end supply chain

Improve & control working & physical capital: optimize working capital through supplier reliability initiatives to achieve optimal days inventory and deliver over 95% OTIF

In this role you will:

Be the point of contact, subject matter expert, to own the relationship with the assigned external contract manufacturers; delivering operational capacity and capability to the business needs.

Own, lead and project manage different initiatives and priorities with strong sense of urgency and agility. Ownership of product and quality issues, including risk mitigation plans and deliver effective stakeholder management.

Regular cadences and visits to strategic and core external contractors for standardized operational assessments, alignment with senior supplier leadership, issue and risk management and resolutions and business review meetings. Utilize visual controls and balanced scorecards through the Value Stream process with strategic and core external contractors to drive control, standardization and identify improvement opportunities

Heavy collaboration with Supply Planning to optimize production sequencing and order quantities to deliver customer requirements and working capital optimization

Lead and negotiate supply agreements, centered in the KC / KCM intercompany business relationship

Cross-functional collaboration with R&E, Regulatory, Quality, Planning and Procurement to achieve operational qualifications, on-time start of production, inventory pre-build, and on-time start of ship for innovation and renovation projects. Work in a matrix organization, able to influence, steer and collaborate with cross functional teams and ability to problem solve with pragmatic solutions

Collaborate with the Social Responsibility and Regulatory teams to develop and execute annual supplier audit plans and drive timely & effective corrective actions with contractors

Collaborate with R&E to identify Design for Value and Design for Reliability opportunities within products, packages, and processes

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain management or related discipline

5+ years’ experience within supply chain operational functions (i.e., manufacturing, logistics, engineering, planning, or procurement/sourcing)

Broad knowledge of tissue manufacturing operations and quality management systems

Direct supply chain and procurement experiences in tissue converting and/or paper manufacturing industry

Lean 6-sigma working knowledge

Capable of traveling globally and regionally up to 40%

Excellent project management skills

Effective and influential communication (verbal and written)

Strong presentation and influencing skills to different levels of stakeholders

Preferred:

Fluent Spanish communication (verbal and written)

Manufacturing and/or engineering experience

ECM management experience 

Contract negotiation experience

Demand and supply planning experience

Network strategy design and transformation

Salary Range: 105,740 – 130,620 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
