About the Job

 

The Early-Stage Immunology Subject Matter Expert reports directly to the Head of Early-Stage Immunology Laboratory (ESI), Global Immunology (GI), Sanofi Vaccines R&D. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for ESI technology portfolio, designed to evaluate the potential of novel and early-stage vaccine candidates.

 

As a technology expert, the ESI Subject Matter Expert is accountable for a segment of the technology portfolio across Marcy L’Etoile (France), Waltham and Orlando (US), and manages related transversal early-stage interfaces.

 

ESI technology portfolio is segmented as follows:  

Molecular Immunology: Assay development, cytokines, biomarkers, single cells, transcriptomic, Next Generation Sequencing, data management associated with biological assays

Main Responsibilities

 

Lead and develop ESI technology portfolio

Manage the existing set of experimental assays and define the assay development roadmap and the innovation strategy for a segment of the technology portfolio, in accordance with ESI and GI strategies

Seek the latest cutting-edge technologies to integrate into their work, remaining closely connected to the global external R&D ecosystem

Lead a transversal community of laboratory resources in developing new methodologies, assays and tools according to the roadmap

Coordinate the deployment of new assays to prevent duplication, leveraging their comprehensive view of all sites

Identify industrialization priorities to scale selected assays and coordinate on digitalization efforts in collaboration with the Automation SME

Ensure efficient reporting of activities to the Head of ESI Laboratory, maintaining consistent communication and adapting priorities as needed

 

Support and ensure consistent practices across immunology projects

Act as an enabler, providing support for problem-solving in immunology projects

Standardize methodologies, assays and tools across sites, maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, quality and HSES standards

Foster continuous improvement, regularly refining processes and approaches to enhance efficiency and achieve operational excellence

Oversee the quality control of raw data generated by laboratory teams and propose robust analysis frameworks

Support the interpretation of results with the Team Members, integrating feedback from the Immunology Leads

Escalate issues to the Head of ESI Laboratory and the Global Head of ESI as needed

 

Contribute to the development of ESI laboratory teams

Conduct comprehensive technical skills assessment for the laboratory teams in close collaboration with ESI Laboratory Directors

Actively participate in the deployment of training plans to ensure continuous competency enhancement

Is consulted as needed to validate the allocation of appropriate resources to support projects, leveraging their knowledge of laboratory teams strengths and development needs

 

Act as a catalyst in promoting ESI technology expertise

Contribute to ESI internal and external visibility strategies through publishing and active participation in R&D Week, Town Halls and international conferences

Identify and promote key topics related to technology to be communicated to GI and Vaccines R&D, ensuring that the latest advancements and insights are effectively shared

The ESI Subject Matter Expert excels in networking, sharing best practices within the Technology communities and across GI and Vaccines R&D.

Through great scientific communication and leadership, the ESI Subject Matter Expert actively promotes ESI technology expertise.

 

About You

Education PhD/MSc in Immunology, Microbiology or related Life Sciences with proven experience as a technology expert

Experience 5 to 10 years of laboratory experience in Immunology, Microbiology or related Life Sciences with recognized expertise in a specific technology area (ABV Analytical, ABB Analytical, Cellular Immunology, Molecular Immunology)

Technical Skills State-of-the-art techniques in Immunology (depending on the position and portfolio segment, specific skills can be required)

Soft Skills Leadership, technology innovation, problem-solving, customer focus, stretch, teaching and mentoring skills, transversal collaboration, scientific communication

LanguagesEnglish, knowledge of French will be reviewed favorably

The salary range for this position is:

$147,000.00 - $212,333.33
