PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for employee onboarding for department 709 (Finishing), including:Provide hands-on guidance with all employees, with focus on new hires (e.g., technique best practices & issues, work instruction questions, tools matters, clocking questions, etc.)Complete all routine quality feedbacks for finishing and visual teamsResponsible for performing production work when not actively engaged in training activities

Each candidate’s qualifications will be assessed to determine who is most qualified for the position. The final selection process will include interviews with the Department Supervisor(s), Area Manager(s), and Human Resources. This is an appointed position and title can be removed at any time for any reason. 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DV FINISHER POSITION


This position is responsible for meeting product schedules and requirements applicable to the standard procedures related to visual, IPD,
finishing. Position accepts, rejects, marks castings, blend or grind FPI, X-ray, Visual, and/or Dimensional indications for further
processing based on visual/IPD/finishing and FPI work instructions. Position requires Blueprint, Dimensional and Visual training and
demonstrated proficiency in FPI Grind for Weld and Finishing. Position certifies rework blended areas both visual and dimensionally.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform work in the areas of visual, IPD, finishing and Grind for Weld in a productive and efficient manner on all classes of
castings, ability to accept/reject where certified stamp is required.
2. Frequently uses powered grinding tools to perform job.
3. Assure travelers, rework cards and discrepancy tags are properly completed.
4. Maintain accurate documentation; organize time efficiently while focusing on priorities.
5. Ability to blend difficult radius to gages and blend dimensional walls within .001”.
6. Understand the operations and flow of parts through the process.
7. Proficient with dimensional wall checks using calipers, dyers and straight edge, U.T., Magna Mike, templates, etc.
8. Responsible for safe work practices by adhering to safety rules, safely operating all equipment and tools, identifying and reporting
any safety problems.
9. Maintain a safe and orderly work station.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
11. Must obtain and maintain DV certification stamp
12. Inspect and certify Finisher’s work
13. Mentor Finishers


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well with limited supervision.
2. Ability to pass written and practical exams for DV Certification.
3. Ability to lead others and answer questions pertaining to the job and process this includes training of new hires.
4. Work in a safe conscientious manner adheres to safety rules.
5. Communicate both orally and in writing to co-workers and supervisor
6. Ability to work with hands and posses a good mechanical aptitude.
7. Ability to pass medical examination and be approved to wear a respirator; ability to pass a respirator fit test which requires no facial
hair that interferes with the respirator-to-face piece seal.
8. Ability to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent. Proficient in shop math i.e. Fractions and decimals.



PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:


Ability to frequently work with hand and power tools. Ability to write, stoop, bend, and reach to perform daily job functions. Ability to
exert up to 35 pounds force to lift and move castings for short distances.
