JOB SUMMARY
The Event Manager is responsible for the seamless planning, coordination, and execution of meetings, social functions, and conventions at Cascade Hotel. You will partner closely with Sales, Operations, and Service teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases. You’ll recognize revenue-enhancement opportunities by up-selling and offering creative enhancements, and you’ll help maintain a smooth turnover from Sales to Service and back to Sales as appropriate
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
1. Managing Event Logistics & Operations
• Plan, coordinate and execute all event details—from BEO review and site inspections through final billing and post-event wrap-up.
• Maintain accurate event documentation and adhere to all hotel policies, procedures and brand standards.
• Collaborate with Sales and internal departments (Catering, A/V, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B) to anticipate and resolve operational challenges.
• Manage group room blocks, cut-off dates, attrition clauses, and meeting spaces for assigned groups.
• Conduct daily banquet floor walkthroughs to ensure quality standards and client satisfaction.
• Forecast event revenue (catering, A/V, room nights) and track against goals.
2. Delivering Exceptional Customer Service
• Serve as primary on-site contact for clients throughout the event lifecycle; greet customers, lead pre- and post-event meetings, and solicit feedback.
• Proactively address guest needs, troubleshoot issues, and suggest alternatives to ensure a flawless experience.
• Empower and coach hourly and operational staff to meet service standards and exceed guest expectations.
• Review final bills with clients, ensure billing accuracy, and process adjustments as needed.
3. Revenue Growth & Profitability
• Recognize and create upsell opportunities—enhancements, themed décor, premium F&B offerings, A/V upgrades, etc.
• Develop and maintain relationships with third-party vendors to secure competitive pricing and service agreements.
• Assist in departmental expense management to achieve budgeted controllable targets.
4. Sales & Marketing Collaboration
• Partner with Sales to support site visits, proposal development, and contract addendums for conventions and special events.
• Provide accurate room night and revenue forecasts for pipeline groups and assist with weekly revenue meetings.
• Generate creative ideas and packages to drive repeat business and upsell ancillary services.
5. Leadership & Team Development
• Lead and facilitate formal pre- and post-event meetings for average to large-sized groups; communicate group needs and post-event feedback.
• Mentor and train Convention Services and banquet staff on best practices, safety procedures, and hotel emergency protocols.
• Conduct performance observations, review guest comment cards, and partner with HR to implement corrective action plans when necessary.
6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
• Stay current on industry trends in event management, design, and technology; integrate new ideas to elevate the guest experience.
• Solicit and analyze internal and external feedback to identify process improvements and streamline operations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on department initiatives to increase efficiency, enhance service levels, and grow event revenue.
Education & Experience
• Minimum: High school diploma or GED and 2 years of event management, food & beverage, sales & marketing, or related experience.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with 1–2 years’ experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years’ experience.
• Senior Event Manager Track: Bachelor’s degree plus 3–6 years’ experience managing larger and more complex conventions and events. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing complex group sales portfolios in full‑service hotels.
• Expertise with Marriott systems (CI/TY, LightSpeed, Power of M) and multi‑property account management.
