DSRD Necropsy and Histology Technician
**Use Your Power for Purpose** The DSRD Necropsy and Histology Technician is responsible for performing accurate, high quality necropsy/histology in all aspects of rodent and non-rodent study work with moderate guidance/supervision. He/she understands, complies with and applies Necropsy/Histology goals, SOP's and Guidelines including all regulatory, EHS, and IACUC requirements. He/she possesses basic knowledge in veterinary anatomy and histology that he/she uses to support daily tasks. With guidance from colleagues and under supervision, he/she participates in projects to support the work group and team goals (eg data and/or specimen quality control, user guides, standard operating procedures, lesson plans). **What You Will Achieve** + In a structured environment, executes necropsy/histology techniques directed by study protocols (regulatory, exploratory, and investigative) in a variety of species for toxicity and GLP studies. + Performs all assigned routine necropsy and histology tasks in a timely manner and in agreement with the SOP and guidelines in place, from necropsy room preparation to archival of specimens. + Communicates with the pathologist and the pathology laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens as well as proper handling of all supportive documentation, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work. + Ensures proper use and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space. • Ensures full traceability of his/her work and of the specimens. + Conduct and manage multiple laboratory-based projects under managerial supervision, utilizing standardized protocols, instrumentation, and data integrity practices to ensure compliance with scientific and regulatory standards. + Demonstrates consistent knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GLP and animal welfare. + Maintains a basic understanding of operations across the business to support collaboration with team groups and partner lines + Able to recognize, document, and resolve data errors + Apply skills and knowledge to increase efficiency, throughput and quality + Performs effectively as a team member: Accurately records data o effectively follows verbal and written instructions, maintains a positive work atmosphere, communicates effectively and interacts in a professional manner with management, colleagues, and customer and partner groups. **Here Is What You Need** (Minimum Requirements) + HS Degree (or equivalent) with 2 - 4 years relevant experience **OR** A.S **.** Degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 1-2 years relevant experience **OR** B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 0-1 years relevant experience. + Has basic technical knowledge and/or skills of relevant disciplines (i.e. histology, basic anatomy) **Bonus** **Points If You Have** (Preferred Requirements): + ≥ 3 years of relevant experience in necropsy and/or histology • + HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible • + Good Laboratory Practice proficiency **PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS** The position requires performing ex vivo work and therefore the colleagues must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
